  Numer Ones 1942 to 1962
  "In 1944 Billboard Magazine launched a new chart based on the juke box popularity of Country songs. Initially, the chart was called Most Played Juke Box Folk Records. Then, Billboard used a collection of three separate charts to measure a songs popularity, but by 1958 Billboard had standardized the chart into one called "Hot C&W Sides" and finally in late 1962 the name switched to "Hot Country Singles". The first stars were Al Dexter, Ernest Tubb and Tex Williams, but it was Hank Williams that really took the charts by storm, with 40 hits in just 4 years. During those eighteen years there were over two hundred number one records, 101 of which you will find on this CD set."
